With regard to domestic relations and family law, we handle adoption, divorce, separation, custody, visitation, support and paternity matters in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations and Circuit Courts. We negotiate and draft Property Settlement Agreements and Pre-Marital Agreements. We collect delinquent support. We also represent our clients on domestic violence criminal charges.

In the areas of zoning and real estate we have many years of land use experience including service by Douglas K. Baumgardner as Attorney for the County of Rappahannock and Town of Washington we have provided advice and representation on the full range of land use issues. This includes zoning, subdivision, proffers and variances. We believe in working closely with local governments and neighborhoods to achieve the best possible results for our clients.

Regarding litigation we represent clients with disputes requiring court intervention in areas of personal injury, domestic relations and family law, business disputes and criminal matters. We also handle litigation involving real estate, construction companies, partnership suits and other general civil litigation.

Regarding real estate closings and transfers: We handle all types of real estate closings and transactions including sales, purchases, re-finances, leases and tax free exchanges. We also provide consultation and litigation services and representation on easements, rights-of-way, commercial and residential leases and partition suits. We handle transactions as small as a single lot or as large as a multi-million dollar loans and transfers. We have over 30 years of experience in condemnation cases.

Regarding wills, trusts and estates we advise clients on and draft documents for wills, trusts, powers of attorney, living wills, a medical powers of attorney and estate administration. An array of estate planning services is provided. From a simple will to a revocable trust this firm works with clients to develop a comprehensive estate plan. Frequently durable powers of attorney are needed and a team approach is utilized including not only the client but the client's accountant, financial planner, insurance agent and others whom the client consults for financial advice. It is essential for clients to take full advantage of the recent changes in the estate taxation and to fully utilize the Unified Tax Credit in their planning.

Regarding criminal areas and traffic defense: We represent clients on all traffic matters including driving under the influence, reckless driving and speeding. We defend on misdemeanor and felony charges in Virginia State and Federal Courts.
